Looks like #BGKY will set a new record high minimum temp (record “high low”) for this date at 80 degrees. That’s tied for 2nd warmest low temperature all-time (81 is the record in that department). #kywx

🧵July was one for the books! Per NWS Louisville, Louisville (SDF - Muhammed Ali Airport) came in 4th place for warmest July all-time (avg. temp: 83.0). First place is still 2012 (avg temp: 84.5) with 1901 in 2nd (84.1) and two years (2011 and 1936) tied for 3rd (83.3)...

SDF did not record a low temperature cooler than 71 degrees all month, which helped boost July's average temperature. The persistence of very humid air had much to do with this.

Lexington also had one of its hottest Julys all-time, with 2025 coming in tied for 7th with 1949 on that list (79.5). The city's warmest July all-time was 1936 (81.1).

Farther south, Bowling Green (BWG) also had a very warm July. The average temperature was 83.2, putting July 2025 in 4th place on the all-time warmest list there. The month beat out two Julys from the 'Dust Bowl' era (1931, 1936) and was also hotter than July 1980. #kywx

🧵As mentioned a few days ago, July 2025 will be remembered as a VERY humid month for the Bluegrass state! With just a couple of exceptions, dew point values averaged in the low-to-mid 70s across the board last month...

Combine those measurements of atmospheric moisture with very warm daytime readings and heat indices were excessive in some cases. Our site in Webster County in Dixon registered a top heat index of a stifling 122.4 degrees on July 28th! #kywx

🧵Recapping rainfall from Thursday...most of our sites failed to measure any precip, but a few locations caught some heavy downpours. Our site near Russellville in Logan Co. picked up just shy of 1"...

Here's a check of August rainfall to date. At roughly the halfway point of the month, we notice that a number of stations have recorded < .25" of rain. Two sites - namely Breckinridge and Hardin Cos. - have yet to see a drop of rain so far this month...

We still show a number of sites that have not received at least .25" in one day dating well back into July. The Fulton Co. station near Wickliffe has now gone 37 straight days without a quarter inch of rain! #kywx
