The widening wealth gap between the super-rich and workers is unsustainable, wreaking havoc on societies. It's crucial to address and curb runaway corporate power for a more equitable future.

As seen, the poorest people's income grew faster than others. The richest also got richer during Erdogan's time. This is why middle and low-income folks in Turkey see the economy differently. It reflects the divide in how people experience the country's economic situation.

My new articles have been published. I found that taxes play a role in inequality during inflationary times. I propose that sales and income taxes should be adjusted to reduce their negative impact on middle—and low-income families during inflationary times. #EconTwitter

It's incredible to see Daron Acemoglu win the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking research on how institutions influence prosperity and economic development. I feel fortunate to have had the privilege of hearing Acemoglu speak about this study in both Turkish and English.

A true success story: After 7 years in Poland, I’ve witnessed its remarkable progress. As Poland is set to surpass Japan, it highlights both Poland’s impressive rise and Japan’s relative stagnation—especially when viewed alongside Korea’s continued growth. Where is Japan heading

As Bowles & Park show, rising inequality pushes people to work more to keep up with others—echoing Veblen’s idea of conspicuous consumption. Our paper with Erdem Seçilmiş finds it also fuels luxury spending: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Our paper “Wage Inequality Among Immigrants” is now published in International Migration Review (Q1, SSCI). We find immigrant wage inequality has surged since 2013, surpassing U.S. levels by 2023, with IT stabilizing but low-skilled gaps widening. journals.sagepub.com/eprint/RFUXTYV… Erdem Seçilmiş
