Underrated: curl in a loop

I'm not really a fan of changing much on target, but I've found that config files are often assumed to be reflective of running state. sshd reloads it's config on SIGHUP, at the cost of a weird start time >:)

Stuart On this same line, one backdoor I liked using on BSD involved adding account to /etc/passwd, then rebuilding the password database with pwd_mkdb, then putting the old file back. The account wouldn't show in the text when admins went to look for changes.

If you find systems with obsolete Linux password hashes, chances are high other problems are lurking. It's like finding sawdust near your house foundation. You can't see the termites, but you know the house has trouble.

Me, at the end of a project: make(1) and doctl are not a good way to spin up infrastructure. Me, at the beginning of the next project: I only need a few Linux boxen, make(1) and doctl should be fine.

Stephan Berger Compromised Linux needs root cause analysis, and then burn the system to the ground when done and start over. There are way too many places to hide.
