🧵 1/2 Today we had the honour of welcoming Commander Nathan Gray to Staffordshire Uni. He was the Fleet Air Arm’s top gun - having flown 140 combat missions - and was the test pilot for the new F35 fifth generation fighter, as well as earning the coveted Royal Marine green beret.

🧵 2/2 Like yours truly, Commander Gray grew up in Sneyd Green, went to Holden Lane High and The City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and was a Sentinel paper boy. His autobiography - Hazard Spectrum - is a remarkable tale. What an inspiring bloke! We are very much looking forward to seeing more of him on campus
