Providing free fares to low income riders is not new. But creating a program where the passes are provided without the need to apply is novel. Philadelphia is selecting people through other low-income entitlement programs and mailing them free passes. More of this!

We're finally seeing data on something that people inherently knew was a problem but hadn't been tracked in the traditional transportation injury mapping data - people experiencing homelessness were killed by vehicles EVERY OTHER DAY for two years.

TFW your research participants are looking out for you: "And I saved all those receipts, too, because I was like, I wonder if the girls are going to want this for the research."

Great work by UCLA Lewis Center's Madeline Brozen & colleagues on the back end of making universal mobility possible: "In an interview with LAist, she said researchers have found that the program significantly reduced stress for participants."

My research on carsharing and the mobility wallet has shown me that people wanting to advance transportation equity for people need to be more modally agnostic. Carsharing, ridehailing, and transit are complementary for low-income people and access to options helps their lives

Jaime is underplaying this. Systems were dead - no record of who had booked a paratransit trip for today. Staff asked drivers who the usual Friday riders were, pulled out paper applications for phone numbers, called riders to ask if they had a scheduled trip. Amazing dedication.

All in my feelings doing interviews with people who received a mobility wallet for one year. Hearing them talk about how it helped their lives that have now vanished because it's a pilot program is just sad.

Fun fact for people in LA: Check out your local L.A. Public Library because they may have free tests that you can pick up now! Having ones on hand from them has been super valuable this summer to my household
