May 5 is Red Dress Day—a time to honor Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls & 2-Spirit people (MMIWG2S) and confront the systems enabling this crisis. Sexual violence is central to this injustice. The red dress is not just a symbol—it’s a call to action.

Resistance shows up in art, culture, education, and community care. It’s in the stories we tell, the systems we challenge, and the spaces we protect. Through collective action, creativity, and care, we continue to disrupt silence and build safer futures.

Ableism is not often talked about when it comes to conversations about sexual violence. In our effort to combat that, here is some information on ableism and consent and how to be mindful about both.

Disabilities do not define someone, but one of the ways that ableism functions is to reduce people to stereotypes. This kind of dehumanization is at the root of sexual violence. Ableism and rape culture (and many additional forms of oppression) operate hand-in-hand.

People with disabilities are often forgotten and left behind when it comes to conversations about sex, sex education, boundaries, consent, and much more. This is a truth that needs to be acknowledged so we can pave a way to a society that's more accessible and inclusive for all!

Technology-Facilitated Sexual Violence is a form of sexual violence where individuals are harmed via digital technologies or in online spaces. It is important to note that young folks, gender-diverse folks and people of colour experience TFSV at disproportionately high rates.

Here are some examples of what technology-facilitated sexual violence can look like. Behaviours can occur online or on social media platforms. TFSV can also be relational, meaning perpetrators might coerce and control partners, friend, or family using technology.
