We held a high-level meeting in Mthatha which was attended by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, MEC for Community Safety Mr. Xolile Nqatha, the leadership of OR Tambo District Municipality & Traditional Leaders. Top of the agenda was strengthening the fight against crime in the area.

A milestone in Healthcare for Mthatha as a R270 million state-of-the-art Herolim Private Hospital is launched. The facility boasts 76 beds and specialized units for surgery, maternity, paediatrics, and intensive care. We are building a healthier EC with the private sector.

The 6th EC Provincial Government Export Symposium & Exhibition is currently underway in EL. The platform is created for knowledge sharing among industry experts, policymakers and business leaders on strategies for expanding exports & driving economic growth of the province.

We’ve been warmly welcomed by Zhejiang Province leadership in China as we embark on a business trip which aims to cement economic diplomacy and position the Eastern Cape as a prime destination for global trade, investment, and tourism.

Today we visited Alibaba, one of the top businesses in China and Zhejiang specializing in Artificial Intelligence.

Our first engagement for the day was to hold a bilateral meeting with CCP Party Secretary and Governor of Zhejiang Province. We discussed strengthening cooperation between us while also taking into account the 25 years of mutual cooperation 🇿🇦🇨🇳.

We visited the Jinhua University of Vocational Technology today. The university partners with African countries on various initiatives. Current exchange programs have led to the solidification of mutual cooperation between China and South Africa.

Today we visited Huawei Global Headquarters in Shenzhen as part of strengthening partnerships that are held between South Africa and China. We’re benchmarking with leaders in Smart ICT Solutions and seeking investment in Digital infrastructure.

We wrapped up the Eastern Cape China Mission by joining State President, Hon Cyril Ramaphosa on his state visit to China. The province has positioned itself as a hub for the manufacturing of new energy vehicles . The automotive sector remains the backbone of our economy.

Crime Management; provision of Water & Sanitation, Roads Infrastructure Development and Economic Catalytic projects top the agenda on day 1 of the Premier’s Intergovernmental Forum in East London. The meeting is attended by leaders in various spheres of government.
