Last night, the Millard Board of Education unanimously approved our para contract (our members approved last week). This is awesome. Since we started bargaining for paras two years ago, we've improved starting pay by 30%. Great progress!

By the way, the state commissioned a report 21 years ago that indicated we could have a viable commuter rail route between Omaha and Lincoln with stops in downtown Lincoln, suburban Lincoln, Gretna, Papillion, and downtown Omaha. And then nothing happened.

The Omaha MSA has about 30% greater population density than the Salt Lake MSA, yet Salt Lake has 3 light rail lines with 40+ stations and a full commuter rail system with nearly 100 route miles. But sure, I don't understand density and public transit.

Every time I ride the Metro in DC, which is amazing btw, I get a little frustrated that their trains are made in our state ... where we have absolutely zilch for rail based transit.

(The California Zephyr absolutely does not qualify as meaningful passenger rail, don't even try!)

If it was about the kids, why is it REDUCING the amount going to private schools by $15 million?
