No one should fear being assaulted while on the job. That's why MVTP Community Safety Officer & I attended the Transit Center to speak w/bus operators & share safety info. 2024 saw a record low in assaults but 1 assault is still too many. We'll continue to work w/ operators to ensure their safety.

With my new smart glasses, I thought I would give you a POV look at what goes into our annual pistol qualification. I want to stress that communication and de-escalation are by far the most utilized skill; however, we still must remain proficient with our issued equipment.

Had a fantastic time conducting a presentation about policing and doing a show-and-tell regarding the equipment we utilize. The Grade 5 class Vancouver College were so excited and had some great questions! They especially loved the presentation/demo by Transit Police K9 Unit.

Huge thanks to Crofton House School for having us present to their entire senior class! It was great engaging with such a bright group and hearing their insightful questions. Big shoutout to the patrol section for assisting with the presentation for 500+ students! 👏

March is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. We will collaborate with community volunteers to implement Cell Watch deployments and address other hazardous driving practices, such as speeding in congested areas. Our approach will combine education and enforcement.

Our team took it to the badminton courts today for some fun team building! Fantastic time swinging some birdies, serving up a couple good rounds of rallies & getting in some competitive play time! 🏸 Thanks to Cst. Alfred Wong and MVTP Community Safety Officer friends for joining us!

It was a pleasure collaborating with VPD Youth Services, delivering presentations on anti-bullying, cyber safety, personal safety, and transit safety to the Grade 8 classes at Magee Secondary school over the past two days. All the students were so engaging. Thanks for having us!👋👍😃

I had the opportunity to meet with members of the Hong Kong Police Tactical Unit (PTU) during my visit. It was interesting to see how they police such a densely populated and dynamic urban environment. Of course, I left them one of our shoulder flashes for their collection. 👮‍♂️🇨🇦

I guess I'm keeping up with this week's international engagement theme! Lol! 😃 I had the opportunity to present a safety presentation to a group of enthusiastic students from Brazil. We had some great and humorous discussions. Always a privilege to connect across cultures. 🇧🇷🇨🇦

Six years ago, I met Matt while working in the recruiting section and offered him advice on becoming a strong applicant. Having served as Waterfront CPC and MVTP Community Safety Officer, he was sworn in as a Police Constable today and begins training at the Police Academy next week! Congratulations !

Had the pleasure of presenting to a curious, engaging group of Montessori students! We talked about getting separated from family, calling 911, and police roles/equipment. And yes—if dinosaurs were bad, we’d need giant handcuffs! 🦖🚓 Never a dull moment! 🤣

It was a beautiful day at Richmond Secondary School, with all our first responder partners educating students about safety on and off the road. Had a fantastic time with @mvtp_wcpc and @mvtp_cso at @kwantlenu Richmond campus for Community Day! We had a great time talking to all the families and students, helping them stay safe getting to and from campus.

Mid-30s degrees at the range today, and our members were still getting after it! Assisting our training section as a firearms instructor, we helped dial in new red dot sights for our patrol members. Great work by everyone on the line today! 3 hours ago

Glad to take part w/ @mvtp_cstkainth in the Go by Bike Week event at Richmond General Hospital this morning. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow riders, hospital staff, and cycling advocates—all while enjoying the ride, taking transit, and leaving the car at home.

School visits are more than just safety talks- they're a chance to change perceptions and build trust. On this occasion, I am reminded of that. Thanks to the parent for sending me this message; it meant a lot. Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
