⚠️ CAUTION! Video does not make for nice viewing. Sadly, it was not the only Whooper Swan under this stretch of wires. It was one of 18 dead! Powerlines, in certain areas, still pose deadly risks to our waterbirds. 2/3

VCs hoping for hand-outs from the new administration are building a narrative that RFK Jr is just a guy who starts important conversations and sometimes relies on incomplete data. This is incorrect, RFK Jr. is a charlatan and very intentional about what he is doing.

The porphyrins in Northern Saw-whet Owl feathers glow under UV light. They degrade over time, so older feathers glow less intensely than new feathers. This bird has a clear molt limit between old juvenile feathers and new basic feathers, meaning she was born last summer!

White-backed Night Heron, Gorsachius leuconotus, is a new species for KBO. Local and very secretive, this bird was caught before first light in a large mesh net.

Why do insect galls have such varied shapes even among closely related species?? The Enemy Hypothesis, posits that pressure from parasitoids drives the dynamic evolution of external gall traits. We have a new paper in Royal Society Publishing on this hypothesis see more in this🧵! #galls
