Sharing a few things I've learned about #accessibility for presentation slides: shiftandscaffold.com/2023/03/27/a-f… Any other tips? Suggestions? Things I got wrong?

Anyone who uses Creative Commons photos, especially from Flickr, should read about copyleft trolls: pluralistic.net/2023/04/01/pix… by Cory Doctorow NONCONSENSUAL BLUE TICK This is extra relevant since #WordPress 6.2 includes the ability to insert images from Openverse. #CreativeCommons Good job, Flickr!

Hi SiteGround Your monthly Site Security review email still gives my sites a 0 for site scanning even when they have Sucuri Security server-side scanning installed. You should be able to see this and not hide that notice. It's misleading and confusing.

Many nonprofits struggle with what to write online. They want to keep a blog or share helpful info on social, but don't know what to say. My advice is always the same. Start by answering questions you get asked all the time. This content solves a problem for your community.

What happened to the Safeway Signature Salsa Roja!?!?!? It's been gone for a month now and it looks like it is may be discontinued. This is TRAGIC 😭 It was legit one of my favorite salsas ever. #Safeway

Companies spamming #23NTC attendees is a guaranteed way to ensure I will never recommend your products/services — and I will go out of my way to tell people NOT to use you. Also, if you've added me to your #23NTC spam lists, you're really bad at lead vetting. Cut it out, folks.

Hey DonorDock! I *love* the #23NTC tote bags. I wish I were in person to get one. I took a look at your website & see a number of accessibility issues. What is your plan for improving the site and do you test your product with users with disabilities (there's no public demo)?

Hey #23NTC tweeters: Most images I see on tweets with this hashtag seem to be missing alt text. Let's do better! Our community should be leading by example when it comes to #accessibility, equity, and inclusion online.

At #23NTC Evan Greer is on Mastodon and Bluesky warned of the pitfalls of “tech solutionism” (tech solutions to structural problems.) This is a stark example: mental health services access is critical, but the answer will not come from for-profit companies that exploit vulnerable users.

Pro tip: if a disclosure button toggles between "show more" to "show less" or similar, you don't need aria-expanded. The state is already indicated. (This comes up again and again in audits.) #ariaSerious #aria #webdev #a11y #tips

This upcoming feature (that I'm tweeting about as I create) is inspired by the many times I've heard Brian Coords 💻 complain about how hard it is to get to the frontend of a post from the #WordPress Block Editor.

We've released a new update to the WAVE accessibility tools with numerous improvements and bug fixes. This version now informs users that accessiBe and UserWay overlays may manipulate page content to suppress detection of accessibility errors.
