On September 29th we start our next Mama Quilla - New Women Writers project - Women and War. The first of a series of workshops, linked to The Carr Webber prize, free to enter. Work developed, and the winning top three entrants, will be showcased in March. around IWD.

We congratulate Claire Nelson on her important new play exploring knife crime, MOTHERHOOD, written and performed by her as part of the OFFBEAT Festival in Oxford. Claire was one our mentored writers, on The Women Who project, and will be part of our Women and War company.

The great Cleo Sylvestre was part of our Soldiers' Son company and most recently The Woman Who. She was going to join the Women and War company. She was the sweetest, humblest, brightest of souls, and a hugely talented artist. Congratulations darling Cleo on a life well lived!

Remembering Lucinda Gane, who passed twenty years ago today. Lucinda and Kay Adshead started Mama Quilla in 1999 She was a brilliant actress. Her husband, the poet Christopher Reid, wrote A Scattering as a tribute to Lucinda and won the Costa Book Award with it in 2009.
