In today’s check-in with the National Consumer Commission I reiterated the need to enforce a group wide approach on the dtic mandate. Consumer pricing challenges, operationalizing outstanding provision of the Act, & further capacitating the NCC are points we agreed need attention

Madadeni Industrial Park is at full capacity with 25 companies employing over 2k people. Our mission as government is to increase their carrying capacity, diversify their product offerings, and build incubation centers for entrepreneurs, especially Black Industrialists.

Ezakheni Industrial Complex is the workplace for over 6k people from Ezakheni. We are engaged with resolving upkeep issues & IP value proposition in order to attract more tenants like United Fabric Industries, and boost employment through Black Industrialists in the area.

An almost 50yr relationship, Airbus remains a strategic partner for some of our SOEs through employment as well as enhancing our capacity on transport & defense technology. In addition to their apprentice program, they’ve committed to partnering with dtic on career exhibitions.

Accompanying Deputy President Mashatile to the #InvestInSenegalForum, we reaffirm South Africa’s commitment to deepening ties with Senegal. This visit will open doors for South African business to expand into West Africa and advance the goals of the AfCFTA.

#G20 Trade & Investment Ministerial Meeting sidelines, I met with New Zealand’s Minister for Small Business & Manufacturing, Hon Chris Penk & discussed WTO reforms, advancing multilateralism, and strenghtening partnerships in film, minerals beneficiation, technological transfers.

Held discussions with Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Dr Santoso, on the sidelines of the G20 Trade & Investment Ministerial. We agreed to deepen cooperation on value-added trade, critical minerals, and investment flows, building on President Ramaphosa’s upcoming State Visit.

Today we officially opened the SA Export Symposium & Expo, a bold step towards realizing the promise of AfCFTA. By expanding exports, supporting SMMEs, & adding value to our products, we will create thousands of jobs & drive economic growth. Let’s spread our wings.

During today’s round table on expanding healthcare access & reducing inequality, Haleon announced that they’d be investing R750m into their Cape Town facility. This investment will bolster capacity to service Africa’s demand by leveraging trade relations as well as the AfCFTA.

Our National Industrial Participation Program has facilitated more than R18b in industrial obligations over the past decade, translating into tangible investments, tech transfer, & export growth across sectors such as defence, ICT, aerospace, & maritime.

The EOC on the Sugar Masterplan reflected on the gains made during Phase 1; including the stabilizing of the industry, fostering of collaboration amongst stakeholders, as well as growing recognition for small scale growers, with a commitment to build on the gains toward P2.
