According to UN Women every 10 minutes, partners and family members killed a woman or a girl intentionally in 2023. The MWIA Violence Against Women and Girls Special Interest Group is advocating for an optional protocol to CEDAW

Gender based violence remains a global public health problem. It is a systemic crisis, affecting 1 in 3 women and worldwide. There is a need to UNITE to reduce the risks which increase during humanitarian emergencies, when women face greater infrngement on their human rights.

In 2022, there were 231 oil spills reported to the Delta State Ministry of Environment; in 2023, there were 139 oil spills reported; and in 2024, 154 oil spills were reported.

The current goal is to develop strategies to reduce this number to not more than 50 oil spills per year.

As part of efforts to prevent and control oil spillage as well as other forms of pollution in Delta State, the Ministry of Environment is embarking on: 🩸Liason with State Ministry of Justice for prosecution of companies that do not clean up oil spills promptly
