Find people who you can directly talk/connect with. It's the only way I survived, by seeking validation of how hard it is to exist in an environment that is made for a different socioeconomic class. Blue Collar Scholars on Facebook really helped me. My dm is always open!

Excuse me, today the whole class authentically laughed at my jokes multiple times during my lecture. Many students in the back row also asked in depth questions. I feel as though I've won a teaching award.

I emailed every applicant who I'm not admitting, being fully transparent about my decision-making process & giving guidance & reassurance. Not getting in is tough - it took me several application cycles to get in. It sucks. But please don't ghost applicants.

I'm excited to announce that I have officially left academia. I accepted a position as a researcher for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). I'm happy to share the insights I've gained from this transition process with anyone who is interested.

It's also good to recognize that even if you can take a real break this month, it may not be anywhere near enough to recover. I know I wasn't always able to recover. The stress you're under often requires longer (esp. if you're dealing with stress from your personal life)

Some great advice here! I will also say I tailored my resume to the specific job I was applying to highlighting specific skills they'd be interested in. Also reach out to the recruiters directly, saying you applied and expressing interest.
