When we prioritize physical characteristics such as athleticism, wingspan, height & body type, but don’t see the intangibles such as love of the game, competitiveness, motor, IQ & ability to adapt, we’re shortchanging athletes. The intangibles often outweigh any physical traits!

Waconia Basketball Association has renamed its annual girls youth tournament to The Carl Pierson Classic. It will be held February 8th & 9th. At the youth level, Pierson valued player development over winning. He also encouraged youth associations to avoid cutting players.

High school basketball teaches young athletes skills that go beyond the court - teamwork, dedication, resilience, and discipline. These lessons last a lifetime. 🏀
