This reinforces the myth in the industry that both short story & poetry collections don't sell. And a farce that the Irish Book Awards are geared up to sell sports biographies, celebrity memoirs & cookbooks at Xmas time. Well done.

Looking like there’ll be no short story or poetry categories at the An Post Irish Book Awards this year. Assuming it’s because the previous sponsors couldn’t continue. How much does it cost? It would be such a shame for them to be ignored again when it helps to promote writers and magazines.

It's clear X is imploding so what we Propel Magazine have been working on is an online community hub where poets can share their work, upload poems, discuss/get feedback on their poems from other members + list events, workshops etc. It launches next month...more info soon.
