Ever considered doing a #PhDposition in another country? What about two countries? See se.manchester.ac.uk/phds-science-e… For a joint Tsinghua University + The University of Manchester PhD studentship on advanced X-ray spectroscopy to unravel the properties of rare-earth complexes in unusual oxidation states.

This is a joint spectroscopy / theory project between: MLBaker Group (mlbakerlab.co.uk); GoodwinGroup (capgoodwin.com); Prof. Han-Shi Hu (x-mol.com/groups/HanshiHU); Prof. Jun Li (junlilab.org/index.html) (Note, Manchester is rarely as sunny as shown above).

Excellent week of beamtime at Diamond Light Source, putting our new active materials cryostat well and truly to the test! ☢️💎❄️ Some tremendous results from the upgraded I20-Scanning RIXS spectrometer. Big thanks to Shu, Alan, John Seed, Myron S. Huzan 🇺🇦 and Nathan Alcock! #actinideRIXS

Really happy to have presented some of my recent research at the UoM Chemistry PGR Conference 2024! Thanks to everyone who has worked hard to make all of this happen - MLBaker Group, Tim Burrow, Myron S. Huzan 🇺🇦, John Seed, Maja Dunstan, Kasper S. Pedersen!

Very well done Nathan Alcock on a fantastic talk, and congratulations for winning Best Presentation Prize! 🏆 🥇☢️⚛️

Congratulations to PhD student Alan Qi, who recently won a poster prize at the Diamond Light Source Spectroscopy Group meeting for his work on probing non-Aufbau divalent lanthanides with RXES!

And congratulations to Myron S. Huzan 🇺🇦 for his poster prize at the Diamond Light Source Magnetism Group meeting! That makes 3 for 3 Baker Group winners this month! 🏆

Very excited to be back European Synchrotron for a week of beamtime at ID26! Looking forward to seeing what we discover as the week unfolds ☢️🧪

Enjoying the fantastic early career Research in Progress meeting UoM Science and Engineering organised by Environmental Mineralogy Group and RSC Radiochemistry Group . Thanks to everyone for great talks, posters and lively discussions 👏
