We also call on our employer The Bronx Defenders, which claims to be committed to "radically transforming" the "justice system," to end its silence regarding this recent wave of violent arrests of protesters, which even peer organizations have condemned. (2/2)
🚨🚨BxD Union needs your help!🚨🚨 🔎Can you help us find these missing The Bronx Defenders executives? 🤔They’ve been absent from almost every bargaining session since March, slowing down negotiations. 🗓️We bargain again on Mon. 6/10. Check back in then to see who shows up!
👀The lowest-paid workers at The Bronx Defenders earn $52,343 annually—almost $17,000 less than a living wage for NYC. Meanwhile, in 2022, BxD’s Executive Director compensation was $339,051.
Tick tock The Bronx Defenders ⏳
Sean Davis of MFJ Union & Legal Services Staff Assn spoke outside NY City Hall today in favor of the #HomesNow campaign for $2.5b in funding. "We need permanently affordable housing. We’re proud that our union took the lead in committing to a justice agenda & for Homes Now in the final budget."
solidarity with A Better NYLAG in their fight against New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) management’s reprehensible suppression of workers’ free speech.
⏳ Our contract expires June 30th, and The Bronx Defenders management has failed to recognize who really makes BxD run, who really defends the Bronx, and who really cares about the mission of The Bronx Defenders. 🧵(1/3)
Solidarity with our The Bronx Defenders Union - UAW Local 2325 siblings! The Bronx Defenders management: the choice is yours. Offer a fair contract in the coming weeks or force your staff and clients the unnecessary hardship of going on strike.
My biggest takeaway from MFJ Union’s strike is that when workers fight, we win. But it was always in managements power to give us an offer that wouldve avoided a strike. The Bronx Defenders Union - UAW Local 2325 workers are going to win. Management choosing to get there the hard way is just ego and stupidity.
We’ll share more later, but, as a preview, we secured: ✅ 8-10% salary increases ✅ A 2-year contract term with the right to strike for wages after 1 year in line with Association of Legal Aid Attys sectoral bargaining ✅ A fair, flexible telecommuting policy ✅ A free speech provision (2/3)
regardless of the outcome of the vote - The Bronx Defenders Union - UAW Local 2325 wins!
