Most small companies and new companies buy out cheap logos from online libraries. Just like other artists get to use WordPress themes instead of custom built websites. Don't expect one black man to NOT use what's in place.

Even 2%, if the site gets as big as promised would be a nice payout. Kind of like a promissory note if there's profit.

The % model usually exists in a very different space - the ones mentioned above. Like, new pharma med logo etc.

I've seen the GD Guild contracts too, but, reality is, that's not what happens these days. You can go to Canva and Fiverr or freelancer . Com etc.
