ex Widnes Cricket Club & Manchester & District Cricket Association skipper Tim Bostock comes in for criticism for his recent comments about County club members…
Very sad news from Wigan Cricket Club this morning. Sammy was a larger than life character who played the game hard, but was always good company in the bar.
.Bowdon Cricket Club came second to St Helens CC in 1974, their final year in the Manchester & District Cricket Association, helped by 17-year-old Paul Allott taking 33 wickets at 11.94. The 40 club single division was calculated on a %age basis & the 2nd XIs competition also finished with a St Helens/Bowdon one/two.

Manchester & District Cricket Association Maribel Arias Spent some late hours in the Weaste pavilion…….Eric always bought a jug of beer!!
Sticking with the annual dinner theme is this poster for the centenary year event, when David 'Bumble' Lloyd & the late Brian Statham were our speakers.
Amongst the trophy winners in 1992 - the 3 Ws - Wigan Cricket Club, Widnes Cricket Club & Worsley Cricket Club! Whilst Monton Cricket Club took the HC Smith cup.
Who remembers the Manchester & District Cricket Association Annual Dinners of the 1980s & ‘90s, organised by Didsbury CricketClub’s Mike Whelan? They were always great cricketing occasions with top notch speakers. This one from 1990 featured Sir Colin Cowdrey, Tom Graveney & former Manchester United manager Wilf McGuinness. 👏👏👏
Former Monton Cricket Club (then Monton & Weaste) pro Roelof van der Merwe helps Cricket🏏Netherlands to a well deserved (if unexpected!) win over Proteas Men in the #CWC23
On 1st October 1972 LCA cup winners TimperleyCricketClub took on Monton Cricket Club at Emirates Old Trafford in the HC Smith Trophy final. Having posted 189 Timperley may have thought the game in the bag but Monton’s John Britton had other ideas ultimately falling just short of taking his side to victory.
A chapter in the history of Manchester & District Cricket Association - from #ChrisArnot ’s superb book ‘Britain’s Lost Cricket Grounds’. Castleton CC was one of the Association’s founding members, winning the Stockton Trophy in 1928, but folded in 1965, when Whalley Range CC were their last opponents.
