New recruits with K Co, 3RTBN, arrive on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. , May 14, 2024.

The first night aboard the Depot, all recruits make a phone call home, complete administrative processing, receive their initial gear issue, and receive a haircut.

Today we take a moment to remember our fallen service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. You remain forever our heroes and in our hearts. Thank you.

Throughout May, the Marine Corps celebrates and recognizes the contributions and honorable service of Asian American and Pacific Islander Marines.

Consisting of various agility based obstacles, the obstacle course is used to develop the recruits strength and endurance.

Tested as a portion of Basic Warrior Training (BWT), land navigation measures the recruits tactical abilities using a topographic map and lensatic compass.

This intense 54-hour event puts their 11 weeks of training to the ultimate test!

This week Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct raid operations aboard MCRD Parris Island from April 24-30.

Local residents of Beaufort and Port Royal can expect to hear and see rotary aircraft flying overhead during the duration of the exercise.
