HRRR shows shower and storm activity picking up in SE Tenn by 5 p.m. and indeed, radar shows some scattered showers and storms on the Plateau.

The soup is still boiling with some showers and storms firing. Widespread severe is not expected but you know the drill, in this heat and humidity some could always get strong with heavy rain and dangerous lighting if nothing else.

Tornadoes can hit anytime of the year in East Tenn. Spring months typically have the most potential for large oubreaks but we are getting through this season ok so far. The overall severe threat ramps up in the early summer months however, with complexes of storms and pop ups.
