When Arlington Row was built in the Cotswolds in ~1380, the Peasants’ Revolt was just about to kick off. There’d have been old folk around who could remember the Black Death, and young folk who’d live to see the overthrow of Richard II by Henry Bolingbroke.

Fought #OnThisDay 29 Aug 1807 The Battle of Køge, between British troops under Arthur Wellesley & Danish militia 🇩🇰 A British Victory, it is also known as 'Træskoslaget' or 'Clogs Battle', since many of the Danish troops discarded their wooden clogs away when they were fleeing.

Ooh, didn't remember the date but I wrote about this in #AnUnwillingAlliance, the first #Manxman book. It was a challenge to write a battle this one-sided and still try to make my characters look like good guys. "Didn't slaughter unnecessarily" was the best I could manage.

Tonight I took this photo of a bird I had never seen before!😀 It's a Gull, but not just any Gull, this little beauty is a special Gull.. it's a Sabine's Gull!😍 This is a juvenile, hatched in the Arctic, & likely to have never seen humans before it landed at the Huntspill

On this day in 1819 Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher died. Blücher was a superb Prussian commander who served with distinction throughout the Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars. He is undoubtedly best remembered for commanding the Prussian army during the Waterloo campaign of 1815.

"I'll tell him I think his determination to protect the locals by keeping the Spanish fed is both humane and shrewd.” “Did he say he intended to achieve this by feeding the Spanish troops, ma’am?” “No. But by the time I’ve finished, he will believe that he did say it." #Anne
