This afternoon, I welcomed a group of parents who are participating in the Family Wellbeing workshops. A great start looking at emotional regulation and exploring scripting to support children develop the language necessary to navigate emotions.

Great explanation of how unprocessed emotions get stored in our bodies, impacting our physical health. It is fundamental that we support children to develop emotional literacy so they can express themselves (to a listening adult). Love this video!!

Such a profound story about abuse and trauma responses. Compelling and uncomfortable. Starring and written by Richard Gadd, who has shown immense courage to share a story based on his own experiences. I can't stop thinking about it. Baby Reindeer

Trauma responses aren’t choices. We don’t sit down & calmly decide between fight, flight, freeze, fawn, or flop.

When we’re triggered, our nervous system makes that decision for us.

I know Twitter is alive w/ teachers tired of chaotic & scary classrooms. I also know that last night's MIND in MIND discussn reminded me why we should keep talking abt attachment theory. Understanding it is helpful to those teachers. Here's a key book & some quotes.

Your childhood experiences play out in your adult relationships.

If you don't deal with what you've been through, the person you're dating will.
