Þóra Karlsdóttir is kickstarting day 2 of the master’s thesis defences at the Division of Astrophysics. Þóra has been working with Oscar Agertz during the past 1,5 years to tackle the question: Can dwarf galaxies tell us how the Milky Way formed? 🌌✨

As the last talk for today, Nerea Gurrutxaga is defending her Master’s thesis on forming wide-orbit planets via pebble accretion 🪐 Nerea has been working with Anders Johansen 🇺🇦🪨 🌏 and Michiel Lambrechts for the past 1,5 years. ✨

Day 3 is already in full flow! Erik Fridén just defended his master’s thesis on the chemical evolution of the Milky Way 🌌🧪 Erik worked under the supervision of Nils Ryde and Govind Nandakumar for the last 1,5 years. ✨

The last master’s thesis defence of today is by Adam Brček on the origin of blue straggler stars in the Milky Way halo ⭐️ 🌌 Adam has been working under the supervision of Diane Feuillet and Ross Church for the past 1,5 years. ✨

Today, Óscar Jiménez Arrantz, who is visiting us from ICCUB, is telling us about his work on the Magellanic Clouds

The Second #ARRAKIHS Consortium Meeting took place last week, a three-day meeting in Sweden. The meetings on the progress of the mission study and the development of the project's instruments were a success!! We are very grateful to Lund Observatory LU for hosting us so well🤗
