Tosha Having dissected both, the "m ischiotibialis" in gators attach to tail chevrons in much the same way as fish, wrapping around m caudofemoralis. The elaboration of the m. caudofemoralis allows the tail to pull back on the femur powerfully (good for both swimming & walking).

Gobivenator mongoliensis skeletal. An interesting troodontid from Mongolia, of course. This animal, and specifically its skull, is beautifully preserved. It also is hopefully my first of a few troodontids.

North America during the Late Cretaceous (Campanian) - 75 MYA. Probably the most memed paleo-map setting but w/e, fun one to make. Might still be WIP, not sure.. feedback always welcome! I hope every map improves ever so slightly.

when lunch is a slightly startling torso-sized moth larva burrito it's a good idea to use the power & strength of your entire 3 inch body to thrash it with such violence that your movements are entirely motion blur even when filmed at 120 fps

In all known armored #dinosaur fossils where keratin is preserved, the keratin adds substantial size to the bony armament, & in #Zuul, significant sharpness & ridges. The armor also help stiffen the tail. Zuul also preserves damaged/healing likely from other Zuul club strikes.

May pseudo-melanism inspire you all to push on wild patterns in your artistic depiction of animals. Considering how well spread it is in the Panthera genus and many more kitty relatives, go wild and have fun.

Good questions. This presentation poster from the early 2000s is on the wall at Museum of Ancient Life in Utah. It describes tiny granular scales (similar to some from Mygatt Moore Quarry.) Of course we now know that Juravenator & kulindadromeus have plumage over scales so...🤷‍♂️

During the Oligocene, #mammals reached the point of occupying niches similar to those of the Cretaceous titanosaurs, among them is the hornless rhinoceros #Paraceratherium, one of the largest mammals that ever existed, rivaling the sauropods! #paleoart

And next up is a wonderful little Spinosaur from Brazil, Irritator! Although not displayed here, it was found to have a jaw that would function vaguely akin to that of a pelican in relatively recent times. I'd also like to get around to some more Brazilian dinosaurs soon-ish.
