I am reading White Fragility after visiting South Central (Los Angeles). The only White people at a family gathering, messages from the book became very real. I have become more aware of the underlying racism in our culture. Hoping for better for Little Luisita.

After spending time with people whose lives have changed significantly due to the pandemic, I am very thankful to have a job I love. Returning to school this year will be different and stressful, but I'm very excited to work with kids again.

Almost through Purple Hibiscus by Adichie. Great book by an African woman that actually reveals the impact of colonialism and systemic cultural white superiority as well as how they affect people beyond our borders. Powerful.
