The PA is winning wards from both ANC and DA in the Western Cape. This should worry both parties. However, I’m still interested to see how the PA will do in the metro because that is where the battle of the Western Cape will be fought. The PA currently has one ward in the Metro

Residents of Dysselsdorp in Oudtshoorn came out in their numbers on Wednesday during a by-election for the municipality’s Ward 9. They were clear about their number one need: jobs.

The results are out and the PA has won the by-election PA 1 278, ANC 632, EFF 22, Independent candidate 20.

Ward 9 in Oudtshoorn Municipality has a by-election today and the area of Dysseldorp is buzzing. This an ANC stronghold, the by-election came after resignation of Chad Louw, who was the country’s youngest mayor at just 24. He has since joined the PA.

Today's by-election in the town of Oudtshoorn could be an indicator of the working relationship between the Patriotic Alliance and smaller regional parties — all in a bid to get momentum ahead of the 29 May elections. DA and Good are not on the ballot.
