It clearly wasn’t one thing alone that did for Humza Yousaf and the SNP-Green coalition but it is strange to see this one very important thing being underplayed in some reporting.

And I know noone cares, but it was 2009, not 2021, that the NHS said men could be on women's wards if they said the magic words or, if they were unconscious, staff assessed their *clothing* to decide that they were ladies.

Listening to and reading some of the emotional commentary on Humza Yousaf’s resignation you could be forgiven for thinking he’d been assassinated, rather than having shot himself in the foot.

There is no doubt that not understanding the impact of the gender recognition reforms, has now brought down two SNP first ministers, it's entirely reasonable for the candidates this time around to spell out exactly where they stand on Cass & other areas of concern.

Assuming you have actually read it, you will realise that it is *extremely* weird to vote against accepting the recommendations of the Cass report, and pretty weird to have a vote on it at all.
I take it that MS's votes will be public and noted?

Humza Yousaf ignored women and is paying the price, just as Nicola Sturgeon did. Will the next First Minister have the courage to stand up for reality? My The Scotsman piece online now (thanks to For Women Scotland for responding so quickly to request for quote!)…
