Day 1: 2nd workshop on antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Excellent lecture by Dr. Christian Giske on EUCAST SIR definitions & breakpoints and their implications for treating P. aeruginosa infections.

Day 2: kicks off with a fantastic review lecture on Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistance mechanisms, led by Dr. Antonio Oliver, main course coordinator.

Our students are checking their phenotypic assays, any clues on the resistance mechanisms involved?

Day 2 has ended with two brilliant lectures: Dr. Jorge Arca Suárez who deeply explained how to perform the biochemical chatacterization of beta-lactamases and Dr. Katy Jeannot Plésiat, who gave a masterclass on the regulation of resistance mechanisms in P. aeruginosa.

Day 4 opened with a masterclass delivered by Dr. Naas on Detection of resistance mechanisms in the clinical microbiology laboratory.

Dr. López-Causapé, as an expertise in microbial genomics, teached us how to perform a bioinformatic analysis for P. aeruginosa.

We concluded the day with two outstanding lectures: Dr. Juan addressed approaches to studying P. aeruginosa virulence, and Dr. Cantón closed with insights into antimicrobial resistance in chronic respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis.

Day 5: We start the final day with two lectures. First, Dr. Pournaras discussed the role of heteroresistance in Gram-negative pathogens. Next, Dr. Poirel gave an excellent overview of the diversity and prevalence of acquired carbapenemases also in Gram-negative pathogens.

Today we have concluded the 2nd edition of this workshop. It has been a week full of knowledge and enriching scientific discussions. We sincerely thank the students, the experts, and the institutions that made it possible. We look forward for the next edition.
