Installation of the main equipment, distilling column, started during Eastern this year. It was exciting as we had never before seen a twenty plate column - as a matter of fact we hadn't seen any column at all 😅

In order to call alcohol vodka, it must first be distilled to 96% strength. We tested our distillation equipment by diluting Anora #Natuclear to 11% strength and distilled it back to its original strength.

Finalizing power cabinet installation and testing. Looking good! It is “go” for the first real distillation tomorrow i.e. the very first batch we have made from grain.

Bubble plate boiling test last week. We got all plates boiling even we only had 2/3 of electric power in use. On top of the column sits dephlegmator. It is for the partial condensation of the vapour stream. Some vapour gets through and some falls down for redistilling.

Today we distilled the very first batch of our artisan vodka. Organic winter wheat and artesian water from Southwest Finland. Quality and taste were 💎 Process efficiency has some space for improvement - it was anticipated though.

While on Wednesday the distillery was full of the sounds and lights of work, on Thursday there was only a faint hiss of fermentation in the light of the evening sun.
