Astronomers have found the most distant fast radio burst ever seen. The signal traveled 10 billion years from a tiny galaxy in Virgo, likely from an ultra-magnetic dead star called a magnetar. 📸 NASA/JPL-Caltech, Govert Schilling | Source: Sky & Telescope

Astronomers found a powerful, compact object in galaxy NGC 4945 about 11 million light years away. Named Punctum, it is far brighter than most known cosmic sources and does not fit any known category. Source: Space.com 📸 ESO / Elena Shablovinskaia et al.

Yesterday was Pluto Demotion Day 🪐✨ Back in 2006, Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet. But this little world is still making big headlines — from its atmosphere to becoming Arizona’s official state planet in 2024. Let’s celebrate Pluto for all that it is. 💫
