🆕 The UN Human Rights Committee has called on the UK Government to do more to remediate unsafe cladding, describing the circumstances that led to the Grenfell fire as “potential violations of the right to life and human dignity”

Hi All My survey responses on the experience of long leaseholders are running a little bit slow! I have 380 interesting responses but I need more. The survey is wholly anonymous. I hope you can find time to take part. #leaseholdreform

How much is yours? Flats with service charges of less than £1,000 are apparently on the verge of extinction. My second story on the Daily Mail Online homepage today mol.im/a/13353665
Grateful to London Assembly Members for their scrutiny of the Mayor's work on housing and building safety.
Resharing some of his responses to give shared owners a flavour of his position. ⬇️

My block has been remediated and now has an A1 certificate, yet Salford City Council refuse to accept their role in the development of a defective block. Until they do I am still trapped. It’s not right to shout about housing concerns without dealing with issues you played a part in.
An ‘innovative’ step to free up some flats on the bottom rung of the housing ladder would be for Salford City Council to respond to requests for details which would allow Landlord Certificates to be signed off. My head lessee has written to SC on multiple occasions and been ignored.
The sobering reality for millions of leaseholders in the country today, thanks to the government & Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities created #BuildingSafetyCrisis , & politicians putting donations from freeholders & the construction industry over leasehold reform.
'The building safety crisis has trapped 700,000 people in dangerous homes and left almost three million owners with flats they cannot sell. Almost all are properties built or refurbished since 2000'
🚨Over 15,000 made homeless.

A great piece by Martina Lees on the ongoing saga of cladding - we won’t forget these people thetimes.co.uk/article/34c5aa…
15 thousand people forced from their homes. The human cost of developer negligence, lax regulations and Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities incompetence post Grenfell.
Can’t believe this scandal is happening in Britain in the 21st century. Feels more like the Wild West. Great piece by Martina Lees
