🚨Anti-vaxxers are twisting a study into mRNA armageddon. TLDR, all this study says is IF certain groups experienced an adverse event COINCIDENT with vax, then it was more likely to be myocarditis than if taking a different drug🤦‍♂️ We already know this🙄 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39103148/

When making a decision regarding who is and who isn't a reliable source of information about SARS-CoV-2, one can look at how often they have said either "Well, I didn't expect that" versus "Yes, as I have been saying for a while now". Here's a notable example. 🧵

I'm giving the variant update at the SAVE meeting on Monday so I thought I'd put out a preview for comment. We are now at our 4th 'high water' mark since the Omicron wave based on wastewater surveillance. 1/

Pseudovirus studies show ~equal Ab evasion & infectivity for KP.3 & other variants. So why is KP.3 dominant? KP.3 can barely infect cells previous variants thrived in, but it's 5x better at infecting cells w/a different arrangement of ACE2+TMPRSS2. See superb 🧵 below for more.

Exactly. We would not be having such a large increase in cases if only the FLiRT variants were around. This wave's driven by S31del and Q493E. (F456L has been universal for quite some time now, which is why it's a very good thing FDA recommended it for the updated vaccines.)

oh Obama, look in the mirror. Everything out of your mouth is one long banal TED talk and your life is hanging out with fellow bazillionaire celebs on their yachts. Go grab a hammer and build a house like Jimmy Carter.

Great thread on huge, long-term study of post-mRNA myocarditis, post-Covid myocarditis, & conventional myocarditis in 12-49 age group. Consistent w/previous studies, post-vaccination myocarditis is very rare (1/115,000) & less serious than post-Covid & conventional myocarditis.

Hi there! Just a reminder that we absolutely crushed seasonal flu and and drove one lineage extinct when we made an effort to mitigate viral transmission. SARS-CoV-2 isn't so easy, but imagine if we cleaned the air rather than only relying on individual behaviour.

📢 We're excited to introduce Pathoplexus, a specialized sequence database for human viral pathogens! 🌍 🧬 Launching with 4 viruses, Pathoplexus.org combines modern open-source software with transparent governance to improve global pathogen sequence sharing. 1/14

Incredibly excited for the launch of Pathoplexus, which I've spent quite a bit of time helping with over the past year. New, open-source, infrastructure for sharing viral sequence data!
