A wildfire burning the sawgrass in Broward County burned nearly 50,000 acres so far. Majority of Florida fires are human caused, but not this one…

Numerous thunderstorms are moving back into South Florida this afternoon. With a saturated ground, even a couple inches of additional rain will cause flooding. We will have this flood threat each afternoon through Friday. #FLwx

Tropical Storm Gabrielle developed in the Atlantic and is likely to become a hurricane over the weekend. Perhaps some swells will make it to the U.S. East Coast, but Bermuda is the only area watching this one closely. We are exactly one week past the peak of hurricane season.

The Bahamas and U.S. East Coast should monitor the progress of tropical waves in the Atlantic with increasing chances of developing into tropical storms. The next two names on the list are Humberto and Imelda. Here’s what to know…

Tropical storm conditions will be felt in the Bahamas this weekend from what will soon be named "Imelda". Far outer bands of rain are expected in South Florida on Sunday with lots of sunshine in between. The bigger impacts could be in the Carolinas with a major flooding threat.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for part of the Florida Atlantic coast ahead of soon-to-be Imelda. The storm is expected to pass offshore, bringing tropical storm conditions to the Bahamas with outer bands of rain reaching Florida's eastern coast starting Sunday.

It was a rough combination of king tides and 2-4" of rain that left many areas of eastern Broward County flooded this afternoon. #FLwx

Tropical Storm Melissa just developed in the Caribbean and is expected to become a hurricane later this week. Good news for Florida, a strong jet of upper level winds will work to keep Melissa to the east but it's worth monitoring to make sure it stays that way.

A strong fall cold front will bring the coldest air of the season so far to Florida. It has been 8 years since we've had humidity this low on Halloween in South Florida.

Heads up! A powerful cold front will plunge temperatures by more than 50 degrees in parts of Florida. Miami will have record warmth this weekend at nearly 90° with frost on the ground across northern Florida by Tuesday.

Cold-stunned iguanas across Florida! In temperatures below 50° iguanas enter a paralyzed state, eventually “thawing out” in the afternoon sun. Miami even hit 48° this morning, the earliest in the season reaching the 40s since the 1950s. 🥶 📷: Ellen Doherty-Purdy
