Year 8 have used a range of different techniques to learn new words, but they particularly enjoyed this game of dominoes, developing team work and logical thinking whilst learning new Welsh food vocabulary!

In Year 9, we have been developing confidence in our speaking & listening skills. Learners have played a range of games to develop their confidence & fluency, such as this β€˜algo’ game. It is SO impressive to hear our amazing learners talk confidently and accurately without worry!

Year 7 started this school year by learning to talk about who they do/don’t get on well with - just look at the incredible work they produced! Can you believe one of these amazing learners only started learning Welsh 1 month prior to this? πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

In year 9 we also had the opportunity to explore other languages - in 9PD (now 10PT) we spent a few lessons looking at etymology and where our words come from, as well as learning some Latin and Green root words. Then, we played etymopoly!

And the final reflection of the day is to celebrate the PROGRESS that 10W7 have made this year, which is absolutely phenomenal. I am so proud of every single learner in this class. Here’s an action shot of β€˜one pen one dice’. Missing your class already!

A fantastic start from year 7 today - they have been learning to ask and answer β€˜Γ§a va?’ / β€˜how are you’, matching the French to the English and playing matching pairs with the new vocabulary. An excellent effort from everyone! πŸ‘πŸ‘

On Tuesday I responded to the statement on the work being done by Welsh Govt to create a Nation of Sanctuary. Was very pleased to highlight work of Lliswerry High , who serve a multicultural area and are doing lots of good work to bring communities of all backgrounds together.

Ice cream in a shoe? Slippers made of bread? We’ve been discussing some odd food combinations to practise the conditional tense structure β€˜hoffwn i fwyta’ (I’d like to eat) and β€˜hoffai X fwyta (X would like to eat)…Who knew ice cream in a shoe would be so popular! Ych a fi!

Ethical and informed citizens in year 9 βœ… Learners chose a local councillor to write to, detailed the problems in their local area and suggested solutions, in WELSH - from growing our own food to using bags for life, using public transport and installing solar panels. Da iawn!
