It has been great to see the weather improve for our pre-season Cricket training. This afternoon our Boys’ 1st XI have been out playing Norwich School, and we look forward to seeing the Girls in tomorrow who take on a team from Cambridge University. The Leys Sport

Pupils on the Stuttgart exchange have had a busy couple of days. As well as German lessons each morning they’ve also enjoyed trips to the Kunstmuseum, Stuttgart Zoo and Botanical Gardens, as well as trying the local cuisine.

Pupils and staff on the Year 10 and 11 German exchange trip to Stuttgart arrived safely yesterday morning. They spent the afternoon getting to know the area including a short, guided walk through the city centre, as well as having the opportunity to meet with their host families.

During the final week of the Lent Term the Inter House Maths Challenge took place. House teams of three from Year 9-11 took part and well done to Alan R of School House who won the individual round, Barrett who won the Team Round, and to Fen who won the Relay Round.

Pupils and staff returned from Nice on Saturday after an unforgettable week. The last few days included visits to the national museum of sport and the Picasso museum, as well a day spent in Monaco. We look forward to hearing more when they return for the Summer Term.

During the last week of term we held a Legal Skills Workshop which provided a useful insight into legal careers. Run in partnership with Tees Law and Fenners Chambers, the workshop offered pupils the opportunity to discuss a range of legal dilemmas and issues faced in practice.

Pupils in Year 10 and Year 12 have enjoyed a fantastic few days on our Spanish trip to Málaga. They have had plenty of time to enjoy cultural experiences as well as a chance to put their Spanish language skills to the test. Thank you to the staff who made the trip possible.

Our French trip to Nice arrived safely over the weekend and pupils have already been busy. After their lessons yesterday morning, they were given a tour of the city including the market in the old town, the Promenade Des Anglais, La Cascade and the Florian chocolate factory.

Over the past few days, pupils have been taking part in the DofE Gold Walking Practice Expedition to the Yorkshire Dales. Despite the tough conditions and intermittent showers it has been a successful trip and we look forward to hearing all about it when they return later today.

The Lent Term ended today with an assembly held in Great Hall for all pupils; a perfect opportunity to look back at the term’s achievements and celebrate successes across all areas of school life. We wish staff and pupils a well-deserved rest over the Easter break.

Yesterday afternoon, our Year 11 Sports Leadership group hosted a Multi-Skills festival for pupils at Great Abington Primary School. The event was a great success - well done to all involved! The Leys Sport

Good luck to the dancers taking part in ‘Hollywood’ this evening. The sell-out show involves pupils from Y7 to the Upper Sixth performing in a variety of styles from hip-hop and street to ariel hoop and ballet. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket you’re in for a real treat.

Our annual Careers Forum took place this weekend with a steady flow of visitors throughout. A wide range of careers were covered from law, engineering, defence, research and finance to horticulture, psychotherapy, property and agronomy. Thank you to our 40+ exhibitors.

This weekend, members of our CCF took part in the Combat Cadet Competition in Beckingham, Lincolnshire. They came away with a Gold Award and from a total of 18 ACF and CCF teams they finished in second place for CCF and third place overall, only two points below the top score.

On Friday evening we held a Silent Disco for our Upper Sixth pupils which began in the Library and then spilled out into the Upper Quad! A great time was had by all. These fantastic photos were taken by Clare W.

It’s been a busy patch for the Music Department at The Leys - Chapel Choir dinner, evensong at St Albans Cathedral and the Choral Society Duruflé Requiem concert in the last week…
