#ScienceInAction! Our budding scientists explored yeast fermentation by observing CO2 production in bags, which we called "barf bags" (you can see why). Ss designed experiments to test different factors such as cereal brand sugar content, temperature, & amount of yeast. 🥣 💨

🌱🐌 Curious minds at work! Ss investigated closed ecosystems. Through observation of color changes in systems with varying combinations of elodea and snails, they developed explanations based on the cycling of matter and energy flow between organisms #PhenomenaBasedLearning

🧬 Ss extracting DNA from strawberries!🍓 These fruits are polyploid with high DNA content and many chromosomes!The soft fruit makes it easy to break down cell walls.

First day of dissections! 🐔 Anatomy Ss practiced using dissection tools and observing the wonders of the human body by exploring the homologous structures of a chicken wing. 🔍 They're identifying muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, blood vessels and bones 🦴 #anatomystudy

BRAINS!!! 🧠 🧟‍♂️ A&P Ss identified cerebral lobes, cerebellum, fissures, gyri, sulci, parts of the brain stem, glands, and cross sectional internal structures.

Forget flowers, our Anatomy Ss got the ultimate Valentine's gift: a front-row seat to a live heart surgery! 🫀We observed a valve replacement & bypass using a mammary artery graft, even chatting with the surgeon mid-op! ♥️🥼LibertyScienceCenter

Today anatomy Ss explored taste mapping 👅 , tested eyesight 👁️ , experienced olfactory adaptation 👃, and compared bone vs. air conduction hearing👂 —all part of our special senses unit. (Guess the jelly belly flavor was our favorite! 🫘)
