Did you know that USS Lexington was the first Aircraft Carrier in the U.S. Navy to have women as part of the crew? On July 19, 1980, women reported for duty to the USS Lexington AVT-16 as crewmembers. Photos taken from the 1989 USS Lexington AVT-16 cruise book.

USS Lexington Museum is not impacted by the federal government shutdown and is open to visitors. As a nonprofit, self-funded organization, the Museum operates independently and continues to offer full access to all exhibits, tours, and experiences aboard the “Blue Ghost.”

#OnThisDay in 1991, USS Lexington (CV-16) was decommissioned after 48 years of honorable service—the oldest working carrier in the U.S. Navy and a record-setter among Essex-class ships. ⚓️ Now the USS Lexington Museum in Corpus Christi—come see why Lady Lex is so special! 🚢

Today, we take this time to honor and thank all the veterans who have served. The USS Lexington Museum will be holding a celebratory ceremony at 2PM in Hangar Bay II. All veterans, active duty, and reserve members of the U.S. military will be honored for their service.

On Friday, November 21st, the USS Lexington Museum will be closing at 3PM. Regular museum hours will resume on, Saturday, November 22nd, 9AM - 5PM.
