🚨 UNHCR is deeply concerned as escalating, brutal violence in El Fasher (North Darfur) forces thousands to flee, while many remain trapped with few options. Families are caught in the city after months of siege and continuous fighting.

With communications disrupted, insecurity is blocking life-saving aid to civilians still in El Fasher. Elsewhere in Sudan, including North Kordofan, survivors report similar abuses after recent town takeovers, and there are fears another major town could be besieged.

I had a chance to visit this center and speak with some of the teachers and students two days ago. I met Muhammad, a young med student and a refugee from el-Fasher. His thirst for knowledge is absolutely inspiring. Kudos to Arizona State University for giving refugees a chance to continue learning!
