An absolutely captivating performance of Die Walküre at Longborough Longborough Festival Opera today. Such superb singing (congratulations to Valentine Voice Care for your input). My 19-year-old daughter (who has Down Syndrome) was entranced, as was I.
Fascinating map showing the spread of the word “father” across Europe over centuries. It’s not detailed enough to show two small islands in Britain occupied by Victoria Derbyshire and Chris Mason where “Dad” is used instead. BBC News (UK)
Astonished by the miracle that is the Longborough Festival Opera Ring Cycle, after a staggering Gotterdammerung tonight. Lee Bisset’s Brunnhilde, the Wotan of @PaulCareyJones and the Hagen of Julian Close as good as I’ve seen anywhere.
Lovely advice on dressing for a Ring cycle from an Longborough Festival Opera audience member tonight, given to her by her Bayreuth regular mother: Rheingold, as casual as you like, Walküre all guns blazing to honour the arrival of Brünnhilde, then a gradual tapering off towards Götterdämmerung.
My friend runs a flute shop. Pointed this out to him. They are now posting a book of flute duets to Downing Street, for Starmer and Reeves to play in their downtime. Larry the Cat might not approve…
If you missed it, there are a small number of tickets left for our addition performances of Die Walküre on 12th July (conducted by Harry Sever, our Ring Cycle Conducting Fellow) and 14th July (conducted by Anthony Negus) 🎟️ Next up.. La bohème 🤩 📸 @MatthewWEllis
Going to be a special show today. Everyone adores Harry Sever as a musician and as a person.
I know all eyes are on the tennis/football/Trump, but in a small village in the Cotswolds a glorious team of special artists and people are putting to bed a project that has turned them into a family, slowly, over 5 years, then quickly, over 4 months. #lforing Longborough Festival Opera
