Awards Eligibility for 2024! I've had 6 original short stories published this year that are eligible for nomination. If you only have the time/space to read one, I urge you to please consider "A Lullaby of Anguish" from Apex Magazine's July issue (threading links)

Novel update: finished the big rework and am now up to 80k! Hoping to have the first draft finished by end of December 👀

First draft of this new book is DONE! 90k words at the moment. I'm sure I'll be adding in edits, because I don't write description ever, but I'm guessing 5-7k of additions tops. And then...beta reads and query letters. 👀

If you value what we do, please subscribe. Subscriptions keep the lights on and we really didn't like it when they were flickering. Not pretty at all and a bit creepy with all the AI vermin running about pretending to be human. clarkesworldmagazine.com/subscribe/ We have gift subscriptions!

Finished my first pass of edits on new novel! Unfortunately this means I have to do more actual thinking tomorrow. Having a setting and some character descriptions is pretty cool though, I guess.

Novel revisions done. This monstrosity is now someone else's problem for a while. I'll be over here, collapsing into a puddle and forgetting how sentences work.

So I got to review TWO books this issue: Sam Asher's new collection that came out last month, and Roanne Lau: "buy THE SERPENT CALLED MERCY!" 's The Serpent Called Mercy, coming out this spring. 👀 Subscribers can read both reviews now - they'll become free to read on the Apex website in the next couple months!
