📢📢📢How can we obtain a robust outer radial glia (oRG) population in 🧠organoids from guided differentiation? Exogenous LIF does the trick.

I'm absolutely thrilled to share that our work on human centromere variation and evolution has been published in nature! We completely sequenced all centromeres from a second human genome & compared them to those from the first complete human genome, uncovering new sequences,…

🎉Congrats to Simón(e) Sun, PhD \ simonesun.bsky.social & Dan Levenstein for their paper in Cell Reports! They identify a multiphasic mechanism for synaptic adaptation to neuronal inactivity that leaves the window open for neuronal plasticity. Read more here cell.com/cell-reports/f…

And it's week! A preprint from my work as a postdoc in Tiffany Schmidt lab. We studied retinal function in a mouse model of and found dampened sensitivity to light in a type neuron in the retina.

So excited to share Sarah Soliman’s new inducible systems for controlling mESC behavior! Sarah built these systems as a stepping stone to studies of tissue organization, but as our neighboring labs began to make use of these tools we knew it was time to share them with the world!

Our commentary in Cell is out!
Rigorous science demands support of transgender scientists.

If we want to have an academy that is for all people, then we must do the work to bring it into existence.

So proud to share our commentary that's out in Cell today. We discuss the historical context for the systems that oppress trans people, how this has shaped research, and how individuals and institutions can support trans people in STEMM.
