We’re back for the legislative short session! In the Year of Public Schools, Gov. Cooper’s proposed budget would:
✅put moratorium on taxpayer-funded private school vouchers
✅invest over $1 billion in public schools
✅give teachers 8.5% raise & start teacher salaries at $47,500+

Below are some of the highlights from Gov. Cooper’s budget proposal. This budget makes the right investments at the right time for North Carolina.

What’s crazy about the expansion of the taxpayer-funded private school vouchers in N.C. is that many of the members who vote for this program represent rural communities- the very areas that will be hurt by it. 🤦‍♀️

Ever since the Republicans have taken control of the NCGA in 2011, COLA for state retirees has only increased 1% 3 times. 15 years and only a 3% increase. The NCGA also controls COLA and Retirement for local government retirees, and it hasn't increased at all in 15 years.
