Senator Mary Jane McCallum denounces pretendianism and acts of colonial violence against Indigenous women today in a speech on the Senate Floor. 🙌

#UBC needs to suspend METL and launch an independent investigation into her academic misconduct and Indigenous identity theft. She lied about supervising students and used their names. We need to do the math at how much financial gain she acquired by engaging in this conduct.

METL issues first response/statement to announce she has retired and will continue to practise law part time. No acknowledgement nor apology to Indigenous people. biv.com/article/2023/0…

“We are asking universities …to stand tall and follow through on the investigative process to defend academic honesty and honorable conduct. The accountability we require must be specific and proportionate to the harm caused to Indigenous people.”

My entire career has been spent working in Indigenous communities. I look forward to continued service to Indigenous populations as a #nursepractitioner, Gayle, Cree/Irish Metis from Alberta, with roots to Lac St. Anne Metis communities and the Michel First Nation #IndigNursDay
