HMCS Athabaskan was sunk 80 years ago today by German torpedo boats in the English Channel. HMCS Haida rescued 44 men, 83 were taken prisoner, and 128 were lost, including the great naval captain, John Stubbs. This photo of Athabaskan's crew was taken in Plymouth, weeks earlier.

Being in the military is arriving 15 minutes early for a PD brief to find a great seat, eye level (back row) with the screen, and then being ordered to move into the front row when the brief starts so you can crane your neck for 90 minutes.
