On Saturday, we were proud to be able to support the LSF CCF Contingent's Annual Review, with the Corps of Drums leading the parade and SWB performing background music throughout. Special mention to music scholar George who gave a flawless general salute on bugle.

Our penultimate Tasting Notes took place today and the Year 9 scholars did not disappoint! Some super solos and the Briggs String Quartet on display today. Join us on 4 June for our final outing to the Parish Church!

A delightful Lunchtime Live where we welcomed alumni and past staff. 4 solos, including Niyor's own composition for piano and the Flute Choir. Well done to all performers.

Piano duets, tabla, harp, dohl and a whole host of others... That was today's Sound Bites at Fairfield Prep School

The second of Tuesday's concerts was the annual Keyboard and Chamber Music spotlight, featuring Schumann Piano Quartet, Mendelssohn and Brahms Piano trios, Bruch's Miniature for Clarinet trio, Faure's Dolly Suite with six piano duets plus string quartets by Stone and Handel.

The first of yesterday's 2 events saw the Year 4 instrumental scheme come together. Supported by SWB, our budding young musicians played solos and ensemble items. For those interested in trying their instrument on a 1-2-1 basis, please speak to the music office.

Today's Lunchtime Live was a forerunner to Tuesday's Spotlight on Chamber Music concert - 3 piano duets, the Con Anima Quartet out again, this time joined by 2 harps. And, a 2 flute with piano trio. If today is anything to go by, Tuesday will be awesome! (7pm in the Recital Hall)

Another fine set of performances at Sound Bites today - well done all, especially the year 6 flute duo! Excellent music making!

Music isn't just about performing - Wednesday night celebrated those who write music at the 'Spotlight on Composing' Concert. We heard everything from Chopin-style nocturnes to EDM.

Yesterday, the Con Anima String Quartet & Mrs Burns visited William Street C of E Primary School to perform in their music assembly. The children listened beautifully and were told the story of the battleship 'The Mary Rose' through music. Thank you for having us!

This morning, the Year 2 pupils from Loughborough Amherst School & Fairfield Prep School came over to the Recital Hall to learn about all the different percussion instruments. Percs 1 performed a selection of pieces and showed off what percussionists have to do!

A short Lunchtime Live today - but excellent performances as ever from 3 soloists, featuring some Bach, Caccini and Reinecke. More next week, featuring some chamber ensembles.

As the summer term looms, lots to look forward to here at LSM: Composers Spotlight; Chamber Spotlight; Prep Gala; Steinway Hall; Evensongs and of course Al Fresco. Add in Tasting Notes, EMPs, Lunchtime Live, Soundbites and the Senior Musicians' Dinner.....it's going to be busy!

Over Easter, year 8 music scholar Nicholas is looking forward to taking part in the National Youth Concert Band residential course. We hope you have a great time and we look forward to hearing all about it!

More good news for us as year 13 Music and Music Tech student Hugo has received 5 out of 5 offers for a university place in September - watch out Leeds...he wants to head in your direction!

We were once again delighted to be invited to Emmanuel Church today, where 7 of our senior scholars, accompanied by Ms Reinhard performed to a full house. Well done all.

Our congratulations this week go to Year 13 Josephine who has accepted a place at Laine Theatre Arts to study Music Theatre. We are all very proud of you Josie! Look out West End!
