These women were denied treatment for ectopic pregnancies even though TX's abortion ban has an express exception for ectopic pregnancy. Draconian abortion bans create a culture of fear that undermines even clear exceptions. It's even worse for vague health/life exceptions.

BREAKING: A Missouri amendment that would enshrine the right to abortion in the state constitution has received enough signatures to be on the ballot on November 5. Voting yes on Amendment 3 will put an end to the state’s extreme abortion ban.

You can pass all the ballot initiatives you want, but they’re worthless if there’s no one to provide the care. It’s hard to keep a clinic open and nearly impossible to reopen one after it’s closed.

Texas is not actually interested in supporting pregnant people and families. Instead of using its money to provide real resources (Texas has still not expanded Medicaid!), it funnels millions into organizations that offer nothing more than a sermon and a few diapers.

It is refreshing to see a candidate refer to extreme abortion bans as “immoral.” As much as lawmakers try to claim a “pro-life” moral high ground, their policies usually do more to promote women’s suffering than protect life.

Let's be really clear here: When conservatives say that states allow 'post birth abortion' what they're actually talking about is palliative care for fatally ill newborns.

The most frustrating thing about Trump demonizing perinatal hospice is that perinatal hospice is THE antiabortion response to fetal anomalies. Antiabortion activists have been pushing these programs as an alternative to abortion for a least a decade. 1/3

Folks like JD Vance and Hawley occasionally identify real economic problems. But they offer a non-solution: reinstating gender hierarchy. I highly recommend Kate Redburn's account of this "trad dad populism."
