A2: Knowing WHAT to teach is always important to establish before deciding HOW to teach it. Content knowledge (TEKS) precedes content delivery (blended lesson design). #1stTeachChat

A3: It can depend on where students are in their learning and knowing it’s okay to allow the collaborative, creative, and independent processes to be fluid. Know your students’ needs and understand how they need to show their knowledge to determine your setup. #1stTeachChat

A4: TEKS-based grouping is always a good place to start. Some “high” students may struggle with 2-3 of the same standards that some “low” students also struggle with — but can all benefit from learning together at the same table. #1stTeachChat

A5: My most memorable (and favorite) assessments in school were from the teachers that allowed us to choose how we showed mastery. Make up a song, act out a skit, create a Facebook page on poster board, design a comic book…the sky is the limit! #1stTeachChat

A1: Place! I personally enjoy when I’m able to select where I work/study and I think it’s important for students to enjoy the autonomy of being selective with that as well. #1stTeachChat

A2: Modeling and fostering collaborative conversations is key to allowing students to experience different learning perspectives to teach and learn with each other. #1stTeachChat

A3: Insight to students’ daily learning allows the teacher to adjust teaching to best meet the needs of students. Pre-tests can decide the direction of a lesson and post-tests can determine where to take the next lesson. #1stTeachChat

A4: Data talks lead to goal-setting and allow the teacher + student to decide which path to take to meet that goal. #1stTeachChat

A5: I’d like to incorporate more ways to model blended learning during our department’s professional learning sessions so teachers leave with increased content knowledge AND blended learning lesson design ideas! #1stTeachChat
